Installing a kitchen chimney is not just about drilling two holes and hanging the machine. It requires structural precision, an understanding of airflow dynamics, and electrical safety. An incorrectly installed chimney will vibrate violently, create excessive noise, and fail to extract smoke effectively. The most critical aspect of chimney installation is the ducting. Modern high-suction chimneys (1200+ m³/hr capacity) from brands like Hafele, Siemens, and Elica require a 6-inch aluminium flexible duct to expel air efficiently. However, many builder-grade apartments come with pre-cut 4-inch exhaust holes. If you force a 6-inch duct into a 4-inch hole using a reducer, it creates massive back-pressure. This causes the motor to overheat and significantly reduces the lifespan of your appliance. Duct length and routing also play a massive role. The ideal duct length should not exceed 10-12 feet, and it should have no more than two 90-degree bends (elbows). Every extra bend reduces suction power by roughly 10%. If your kitchen layout forces a longer duct route through a false ceiling, we use rigid PVC pipes instead of flexible aluminium. Flexible aluminium ducts can sag over time, trapping liquid oil which eventually drips down into the ceiling. PVC ensures a smooth, leak-proof path for the heavy oil vapors.

Mounting the chimney correctly is vital for both safety and aesthetics. We use laser-guided alignment tools to ensure the chimney is perfectly horizontal. The height from the gas hob is scientifically calibrated: 24 to 28 inches for gas stoves and 20 to 24 inches for induction cooktops. For heavy Island Chimneys suspended from the ceiling, we use specialized heavy-duty anchor fasteners drilled directly into the concrete slab (not the false ceiling) to bear the extreme weight safely.
